Los Almendros 4*
The complex is located in the centre of groovy Playa del Ingles, just off the main road that leads from the Yumbo Centre to the beach, the Avenida de Tirajana. This means you’re about a ten minute walk from the Yumbo and seven or eight minutes’ walk from the start of the beach. You’re also conveniently located opposite the Cita Centre which, as well as being fairly handy for shopping now has a handful of gay bars to keep you amused till early hours!. The Los Almendros is made up of 33 one bedroom bungalows and one studio; each air conditioned (refundable deposit required) bungalow has one bedroom equipped with either twin beds or a queen size and a sofa-bed in the living room. The kitchenette, which is separated from your living room by a breakfast bar, incorporates a fridge with a freezer compartment, a couple of cooking rings, a coffee machine, a kettle and enough cutlery and crockery for basic self catering and an iron and ironing board .
As well as the lawns there’s room around the large swimming pool where you can reserve a pole position poolside bungalow by paying a small supplement – it’s best to book as early if you fancy one of these, and finally there’s also a huge Jacuzzi which is heated during the winter. The studio is designed for one person only and, rather than having a separate living room and bedroom, has a combined space with a single bed. Other than that, it’s fairly similar to the bungalows inasmuch as it’s got a walk-in shower room, kitchenette, patio, aircon and TV. It also boasts a lovely pool view and is just a few steps away from the Jacuzzi. Elsewhere on the complex there’s a bar which is pretty much the focal point of the whole complex alongside which there’s a rather good restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and all day snacks. Secondly, it’s the place itself. Billed as a ‘wellness centre’ the Vital Suites offers its guests all sorts of wonderful opportunities for being pampered such as a 34 degree thalasso-pool, a bio sauna, a Finnish sauna, Turkish steam bath, Vichy showers plus mud, seaweed and Cleopatra baths In addition to the ‘wellness’ facilities, there are two outdoor pools, a Jacuzzi, poolside bar and an indoor bar too, an attractive restaurant and a comfortable lounge. There’s also a laundry service, internet access and a gym, and room service is available at an extra charge. As regards your accommodation, you can choose between a standard double and a junior suite. For a winning combination of low prices and a premium location, look no
further than Las Walkirias, a gay friendly block of 64 one bedroom
apartments located next door to the Yumbo Centre. We’ve been using these
apartments for the past four years, and they’re by far our hottest
selling gay friendly property on the island. What’s more, they’re
comfortable, clean and perfectly well equipped for a week or two’s
serious holidaymaking.
All the apartments in Las Walkirias have furnished balconies which
overlook the pool which is surrounded by a sunbathing area with
complimentary sun-beds. A handy mini-market completes the picture and
there’s a full reception service and a lift.
With their winning combination of affordability and location, the Iguazu
apartments are almost right on the Yumbo’s doorstep and about 15
minutes’ stroll from the beach. Well maintained and extremely gay
friendly, all the resort’s amenities are within very easy reach, while
the option of one or two bedroom apartments makes the Iguazu suitable
for singles, couples and groups of pals looking for a decent,
inexpensive base.
The Barbados apartments are located about 100 metres from the Yumbo
Centre in Playa del Ingles, made up of two bedroom apartments, the whole
block was refurbished during 2005, making holidaying here an even more
attractive proposition.
Ideal for beach lovers, the modern Valparaiso apartments are located a
couple of minutes’ walk from Playa del Ingles beach and about a ten
minute stroll from the Yumbo Centre. There are 44 apartments in total
with modern tropical-style furnishings.
There’s a cocktail bar by the large swimming pool, which unusually but
gratifyingly is heated during the winter months. The generous sunbathing
area is equipped with complimentary sun-beds, and in the gardens that
you’ll find the Jacuzzi. If you tire of the gardens you can always take
the lift up to the roof where you can soak up the sun on the huge
rooftop terrace and take in the fabulous views over the town to the
mountains or out to sea.
The Joy of aparthotels is they give you the freedom of self-catering
with all the benefits of staying in a hotel. So, although you’re booked
into the Sol Barbacàn on a bed and breakfast basis, you’re actually
accommodated in an apartment with full self-catering facilities.
The recently refurbished Creativ Hotel Buenaventura is one of those

This fabulously opulent five star hotel is located 300 metres from the
Meloneras beach, which in turn is about ten minutes by car from the
centre of Playa del Ingles. All 561 beautifully furnished rooms, 40 of
which are suites, are air conditioned with their own balcony or terrace,
a lounge area a mini bar and satellite TV plus, unusually, an ensuite
dressing room.
Other facilities include a 34,000 square metre tropical garden, five
swimming pools (one is saltwater and three can be heated in winter), two
Jacuzzis and loads of space for just chilling out and relaxing on the
hotel’s artificial beach. Active types may well take advantage of the
tennis court, as well as golf, billiards and the hotel’s gym.
